Rural Small Business Successes + Challenges Roundtable with Representative Zach Nunn
The Greater Des Moines Partnership had the privilege of hosting U.S. Representative Zach Nunn for a roundtable discussion focused on rural small business at Pioneers Pub and Grub in Casey, Iowa in Adair and Guthrie Counties, which is part of The Partnership footprint. As part of its ongoing advocacy efforts, The Partnership collaborates with all members of Iowa's Congressional delegation to organize events in Greater Des Moines (DSM) that address key policy priorities for the region. This event brought together small business owners from Adair and Casey to share success stories and explore the challenges facing rural Iowa businesses.
About the Rural Small Business Roundtable Discussion
Congressman Nunn kicked off the conversation about the key elements of a healthy community and reminded the group that half of businesses in Iowa qualify as small businesses. The city of Casey is growing thanks to the investment from those small businesses, and it is through public-private partnerships that future growth will be supported.
The discussion covered crucial topics such as housing, water infrastructure, talent recruitment and retention in the region, child care and federal grant opportunities. The Partnership expresses sincere gratitude to Representative Nunn, Pioneers Pub and Grub, the Adair Chamber of Commerce and the business and community leaders who came together to discuss both the successes and challenges of rural small businesses.
