In-District Congressional Event with Representative Feenstra

The Greater Des Moines Partnership and the Marshalltown Area Chamber of Commerce jointly hosted U.S. Representative Randy Feenstra for a roundtable discussion on manufacturing. As part of its advocacy efforts, The Partnership collaborates with all members of Iowa's Congressional delegation to organize events in Greater Des Moines (DSM) addressing key policy priorities for the region. This particular event delved into the challenges confronting manufacturing businesses in the area, bringing together Partnership Investors, Marshalltown Chamber Members and other community stakeholders to emphasize the significance of this important topic.

About the Event

The In-District Congressional Event commenced with a tour of the Lennox Museum. The museum showcased the history of Lennox and recounted the story of the 2018 tornado that swept through Marshalltown and the factory.

 

Following the tour, participants gathered for a discussion on the manufacturing industry. Key topics included immigration, workforce housing, tax credits and child care. Woven throughout the conversation was a prevailing concern about the lack of a level playing field with the rest of the world in terms of policies impacting manufacturing and business operations. The group also underscored the importance of research and development funding.

 

The Marshalltown Area Chamber of Commerce and The Partnership extend their gratitude to Representative Feenstra, Lennox, business leaders and community representatives who convened to address policy implications for this prominent industry.
