Evelyn K. Davis Center Spring Offerings

Des Moines Area Community College’s (DMACC’s) Evelyn K. Davis Center for Working Families is keeping busy creating opportunities through employment support programming and events. Here are the latest offerings to help connect and improve individuals’ employability and assist in connecting people with positions at Greater Des Moines (DSM) businesses and organizations.

Appointments

Employment Support

There are numerous job openings for DSM organizations, as well as other opportunities to be aware of through the Evelyn K. Davis Center. Career coaches are also available including at the following locations:

  • Evelyn K. Davis Center (1171 7th St., Des Moines) from 8 – 4 p.m. Monday through Friday
  • Northside Library (3516 5th Ave., Des Moines) from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Wednesdays.

  • Career Fair on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at the DMACC Urban Campus, Building 7 in Des Moines from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.
  • Parenting classes for new parents, parents sharing custody, parents of all ages, formerly incarcerated parents and adults in parenting roles are being offered. See more information on the flyer.
  • DMACC Perry VanKirk Center will offer a CDL Jumpstart program in Perry in June. This program is open to everyone and is not limited to Tyson employees. CDL Jumpstart is a preparation program for English Language Learners interested in obtaining their Commercial Driver License (CDL). The course is intended for individuals with high intermediate to advanced English language skills and is provided at NO COST to students who participate. Interested students can complete the registration form online, use the QR code on the attached flyer or call (515) 248-7538.
