What is a Signature Offering of Your Chamber?

The past six years, the Urbandale Chamber of Commerce has organized the Central Iowa Business Conference. This Conference is the premier event for CEOs and executive teams, business owners, investors, community leaders and entrepreneurs to attend and experience a full day of inspiration and education to take their business to a new level. The conference boasts top-level speakers, cutting-edge topics and fantastic opportunities to connect with other leadership teams from across Greater Des Moines (DSM), regardless of membership in the Urbandale Chamber.

This year’s conference is on Thursday, May 23, 2024 and features Andy Buckley from the hit TV show “The Office,” Dr. Ian Roberts, Des Moines Public Schools Superintendent and Olympian, and Josh Linkner, Serial Entrepreneur and New York Times Best Selling Author. Tickets can be purchased through centraliowabusinessconference.com.

What is Your Chamber’s Biggest Accomplishment in the Past 12 Months?

In June 2023, the Windsor Heights Chamber of Commerce merged into the Urbandale Chamber of Commerce. The merger is designed to help the organizations combine their resources to best serve members while still maintaining unique identities. Pooling the neighboring business organizations mobilized the power of its total membership reach to create an optimized business climate. The collective merging was formed following the unanimous approval by the Board of Directors from the two respective Chambers.

What Initiative/Project Are You Looking Forward to in the Upcoming Year?

We are committed to providing impactful resources for the business community. Continuing education and leadership training bubbled to the top from our members when discussing employee retention. We listened to and are launching Leadership Urbandale in the fall 2024, with a unique twist to include a ticket to the Central Iowa Business Conference ($325 value).

In addition, the Urbandale Chamber is expanding its Urbandale Chamber Exclusive Benefits. These are benefits designed to save businesses time and money. Look for more benefits to be released later this year. The Urbandale Chamber of Commerce membership goes beyond networking to provide members with benefits that truly impact the bottom line.

What Partnership Tools/Resources Have Been Most Beneficial to Your Chamber Members?

Every member joins the Chamber for a different reason. When a business joins the Urbandale Chamber, we provide them with a mini marketing package that includes a free radio commercial with Cumulus Media ($1,000 value), a free radio commercial translated to Spanish on La Q Buena, 100 free custom pens with their company information on them through Allegra, a free business coaching session with Christy Jones, Clarity Business Coaching to provide one-on-one business assistance and guidance, all in addition to the typical new member announcements on social media, in the e-newsletter and promotion at a new member booth during a membership luncheon. This is a unique way we provide new members with an immediate return on their membership investment. New in 2024, renewing members are provided with an opportunity to receive a free podcast recording through Amplified if they renew for two years. This is a $500 value.
