World Food & Music Festival Announces Food Vendors and Menu Enhancements
GREATER DES MOINES, IA (July 14, 2021) – The World Food & Music Festival has announced its lineup of 40 food vendors representing 23 countries for the 2021 Festival. The Festival will return on Friday, Sept. 17 – Sunday, Sept. 19 at Western Gateway Park in Downtown Des Moines (DSM).
In The Festival’s line-up, there are 13 new vendors, and menus, once finalized, will be marked to denote items that are gluten free, dairy free, vegetarian or vegan. Vendor applications are still accepted through July 30.
Programming at The Festival will feature a number of favorites from past years. The Meredith Culinary Discovery Pavilion will host local chefs to demonstrate their skills and offer samples. The Cultural Activity Pavilion sponsored by Global Atlantic Financial Company will feature a virtual trip around the world with workshops, interactive presentations and hands-on activities. The Fruit Adventure Tent presented by Voya Financial will offer a unique experience to celebrate fruit from around the world. The Cooking Challenge pits four teams against one another in a high-energy, high-stakes race to assemble the perfect meal. The Festival will again kick off with a Naturalization Ceremony for the U.S. District Court in which individuals from countries around the world will become U.S. citizens.
“We are excited to bring back a vibrant in-person festival featuring a wide array of vendors and activities in 2021 after pivoting to host a virtual event last year,” said Colleen Murphy, Downtown Events Director for the Greater Des Moines Partnership. “This year’s event will be a celebration of cultures and tastes form around the world.”
