Young Professionals Connection To Host Connections On The Green At Principal Charity Classic

May 6, 2024

GREATER DES MOINES, IA (May 6, 2024) – The Young Professionals Connection (YPC) is partnering with the Principal Charity Classic for Connections on the Green, an event that aims to bring community leaders and young professionals together to discuss the importance and impact of intentional inclusion in our community. The event will take place on Thursday, May 30 from 5:15 – 6:45 p.m. at Wakonda Club.

Connections on the Green will provide a platform where future leaders attending can ask questions and learn from experienced business executives from Greater Des Moines (DSM) through a fun, informal activity called inclusive networking bingo. Participants will also hear from a leader in this space as well as personal testimonies on the impact intentional inclusion can have on the community.

“We are excited to partner with the Principal Charity Classic on this event. Our goal is not only to create deeper connections between young professionals and community leaders, but to equip them with tangible tools to consciously show up more inclusively throughout the DSM region,” said Dannie Patrick, 2023-24 President of YPC. “Instilling a sense of belonging is critical to ensuring successful talent development in our community and that starts with the intentional inclusion of varying backgrounds, identities and lived experiences. Whether you feel young or more young at heart we encourage all to participate in this signature community event."

This event took inspiration from previous iterations of a YPC/PCC networking event and the story of late community leader Monroe Colston. Colston served as the first president of the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines. His commitment to inclusion inspired YPC to reimagine this networking opportunity as one that gives tangible takeaways to create ripple effect connections in The community. “The Principal Charity Classic is heavily focused on giving back and supporting the community,” said Alex McCarty, Tournament Director of the Principal Charity Classic. “We are excited to host YPC and young professionals who are looking to grow in their career and community involvement to become the leaders of tomorrow.”
