Partnership Announces Federal Agenda, Speakers for DMDC Trip

GREATER DES MOINES, IA (May 3, 2018) — The Greater Des Moines Partnership has released its Federal Policy Agenda in advance of its 39th annual trip to Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, May 9 through Friday, May 11. The Partnership’s agenda is compiled by its Government Policy Council, which is made up of Investors and Affiliate Chamber of Commerce Members. This year’s agenda includes the following featured priorities:

  • Increasing the cap on the Passenger Facility Charge to help the Des Moines International Airport create a new terminal.
  • Preservation of trade policies, specifically within the North American Free Trade Agreement, that provide market access and economic growth opportunities.
  • Increased investment for the Community Development Block Grant Program, the HOME Investment Partnership Program and the Housing Choice Vouchers Program.
  • A comprehensive approach to solving the nation’s transportation infrastructure issues.
  • Continued public investment in arts, culture and heritage.

Nearly 200 of Greater Des Moines’ (DSM’s) business and community leaders will present the Federal Policy Agenda and promote regional priorities and economic development plans during DMDC. Attendees will meet with members of Iowa’s Congressional Delegation, the Administration and their staffs.

Additionally, The Partnership has announced this year’s keynote speakers throughout the three-day trip. Patrick McHenry, U.S. Representative from North Carolina, will speak to attendees during a luncheon on Wednesday. Seth Moulton, U.S. Representative from Massachusetts, will speak with attendees during a luncheon on Thursday. Jeff Zeleny, Senior White House Correspondent for CNN, will speak at a brunch on Friday. Additionally, The Partnership will host the Iowa Congressional Reception on Wednesday evening at the Hall of States Building, which typically features attendance from Iowa’s Congressional Delegation and their staff members.
